We are looking for volunteers to help us at our largest fundraising event of the year, March For Babies. The event takes place on May10th in Old Settleres Park in Round Rock. We will need volunteers from 5am-3pm. Volunteers may choose to work the full event or in shifts. Here are the different volunteer positions we have available:
Set-up Walk Site at Lakeview Pavilion: 5:00am – 9:00am Approx. 30 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include setting up the walk site by assisting with hanging banners, displaying signage, distributing trash boxes, setting up tables and chairs unpacking and distributing supplies. The volunteers should be able to lift large heavy boxes.
Set-up the 5K Route: 5:00am – 9:00am Approx. 15 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include setting up route, checkpoints and memorial tent by assisting with hanging banners, displaying signage, setting up tables and chairs, unpacking and distributing supplies, setting up route activities, distributing trash boxes, and setting up memorial tent. The volunteers should be able to lift large heavy boxes.
Volunteer Check-In: 5:00am – 9:00am Approx. 4 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include checking in volunteers, providing the volunteer with a t-shirt, describing the volunteer’s responsibilities, and directing volunteer to appropriate volunteer manager.
Registration/Information: 5:00am – 9:00am/10:00am-12:00pm Approx. 10 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include assisting to set-up registration and information area by setting up tables and chairs, unpacking supplies and incentive shirts, displaying signage and hanging banners. As a registration volunteer you will also greet participants, collect donations, give out incentive t-shirts to those that qualify, and answer questions about the walk and activities.
Runner Check-in: 5:00am – 8:00am Approx. 4 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include greeting runners, distributing packets and t-shirts to runners who did not do so before event day, direct runners to the start line, and answer any additional event questions.
Parking lot Delivery Assistants: 5:00am – 8:00am Approx. 2 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include assisting team captains with deliveries from temporary VIP parking lot to their tents by delivering items from the parking lot via golf carts.
Parking Attendants/Greeters: 7:00am – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 20 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include assisting to set out signage throughout parking lot and along par roadway, managing traffic into the park, directing cars into the appropriate parking lot, directing cars to park in specific parking spots, closing parking entrances and lanes when needed. After the event is over volunteers will direct traffic out of the parking lot and onto the park roadway.
Greeters/Information: 7:00am – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 15 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include greeting guests as they enter the park, assisting with donation tent line control, directing them to the donation tent, family activities, corporate teams area and/or family team area, provide information about activities, restrooms, start/finish line, entertainment and food.
Run and Walk/Start Line: 7:45am – 10:30am Approx. 10 volunteers needed Responsibilities include directing runners into the chute starting at 7:30am and directing walkers into the chute starting at 9:00am and cheering runners and walkers as they begin their walk.
Finish Line: 8:00am – 11:30am Approx. 10 volunteers needed Responsibilities include cheering runners as they enter the finish line, hand out water, hand out stickers, clean area of all debris before walkers enter chute. After walkers begin walking, relocate to walker finish line to cheer on walkers as they cross the finish line, hand out stickers, hold signs, take pictures.
Sales Tent: 7:00 – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 8 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include assisting with restocking merchandise, greeting walkers, handling cash and credit cards.
Family Activities: 7:00am – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 40 volunteers needed Responsibilities include assisting with managing family activity tents, greet walkers and kids, line control, assist kids with craft projects, hand out materials, monitor supplies of activities, keep tents clear of garbage, direct families to activities in area. Activities may include coloring, face painting, canvas bag decorating, Kids Run etc.
In Park Trash Managers: 7:00 – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 5 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include monitoring the park for full trash bags, dumping full trash in the dumpsters, checking in with corporate and family team tents to make sure they have trash bins, picking up litter in the walk site area.
In Park Supply Runners: 7:00am – 2:00pm (in shifts) Approx. 6 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include checking in with staff, checking on tents and monitoring radio requests for supplies such as trash bins, scissors, tape, golf carts, toilet paper, paper towels, etc., and delivering items.
Route Managers: 7:00am – until route clears of all walkers Approx. 10 volunteers needed
Check in with checkpoint sponsors, volunteers, and DJs to make sure areas are running smoothly. Assist with any issues along the route including areas that cause bottlenecking or have alternate route paths, and be aware of any incidents along the route and report to event lead.
Route Marshals/Manning a Checkpoint: 7:00am-11:30am Approx. 50 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include cheering walkers and runners, providing water, assisting with directing traffic, offering assistance where needed and picking up any trash that may be dropped along the route.
Route Delivery Truck: 6:00am – 12:00am Approx. 4 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include assisting with delivering and picking up supplies along the route and remaining available during the event to help transport any materials or people to and from the route and walk site. The volunteers should be able to lift large heavy boxes.
Photographers: 7:00am – 2:00pm Approx. 4 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include working with the March of Dimes communications team to identify key photos to be taken throughout the event, taking action shots of team tents, family activities, runners, walkers, entertainment, food vendors, memorial tent, and playscape area. Provide rights to March of Dimes to use pictures for promotional use during future March of Dimes campaigns and allowing walkers to download photos for personal use.
Clean up park: 12:00pm – 3:00pm Approx. 20 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include collecting trash at the walk site, bringing trash to designated dumpster, taking down banners and picking up signage, breaking down tables and chairs, boxing up supplies and bringing supplies to the delivery truck.
Load truck: 12:00pm-3:00pm Approx. 5 volunteers needed
Responsibilities include organizing boxes brought to the delivery truck by item type, making sure boxes are securely shut and taped and banners are rolled properly, loading the truck in an organized method. The volunteers should be able to lift large heavy boxes.
Clean up Route: 11:30am -12:30pm Approx. 6 volunteers needed Responsibilities include taking down banners, bringing trash to the dumpsters, breaking down tables and chairs, picking up signage, breaking down the memorial tent and picking up trash along the route. The volunteers should be able to lift large heavy boxes.

- You may be asked to assist in another area if the need arises.
- You may choose to assist in more than one area if your first assignment ends before another assignment begins.
