“NATHAN CHAPMAN HONOR WALK” honoring Veterans and First Responders
Georgetown, TX (10/20/2021) The Georgetown Sertoma Club invites everyone to honor Veterans and First Responders with our annual Nathan Chapman Honor Walk on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Field of Honor in San Gabriel Park.
The event is named in honor of the first American soldier killed in combat in Afghanistan, Army Sergeant First Class with the 1st Special Forces Group, Nathan Ross Chapman. His military career spanned 13 years, and a casting commemorating Chapman is displayed at the Georgetown Courts building.
As part of the Sertoma Club’s National Heritage projects, the walk kicks off a series of weeklong events during the Field of Honor festivities hosted by Georgetown Rotary Club. Proceeds raised by the Georgetown Sertoma Club at this event will be donated to Heroes Night Out and Wilco Blue Star & Gold Star Mothers.
The 5k Walk begins at the Field of Honor at San Gabriel Park and will take walkers through the park. A registration fee of $10 for Veterans and First Responders and $25 for the general public is requested. Participants check in at 8:00am before the walk officially begins at 9:00am. Click here to register.
Walkers will be given an opportunity to announce the name of the Veteran or First Responder they are honoring. Flags can also be purchased in dedication of your heroes at the walk or online through Sertoma.
