Who We Are

Camp Agape is a safe place that provides a fun and supportive atmosphere, while fostering faith, healing and hope for children, teens, and families through their grief journey

Camp Agape began serving children in 2000 when our Founder saw a need for a Faith based bereavement camp for children. Within the past 21 years we have served over 750 grieving children and expanded our services to include a Family Retreat and Footprints after-school program. We strive to welcome all who are grieving the loss of a loved one and our vision is to create a world where everyone has hope after loss.

What We Do

Camp Agape is a Faith based grief support organization that supports children and families who are grieving the death of a significant familial figure. Camp Agape provides creative group-therapy activities to assist with the bereavement process. We work hard to equip children and families with the tools to guide them through their unique grief journey. We understand the importance of teaching stress management and relaxation skills to help cope with trauma reminders. We help rebuild routines and rituals and we speak openly about the loved one. Most importantly we provide Hope and we love with Agape Love!

At Camp Agape Summer Camp, we have fun playing gaga ball, swimming in the pool, and telling funny stories with new friends. We also understand the importance of helping a child through their grief journey. We incorporate the use of art, music, games and play therapies all with the theme of offering true HOPE for the future. We want all Camp Agape Campers to know that they are not alone in their grief. Camp Agape utilizes a 1-1 counselor to camper ratio so children are cared for, heard, and loved throughout the week. This 4 day 3 night camp is intended for children ages 7-12.

Family Retreat is a weekend get-away for the entire family unit. Families will find comfort, hope, and healing while making new friends with other families who are also grieving a death. Families learn to communicate and face their grief through games, grief coaching, bonding activities, relaxation, and adult time. The purpose is that each family member is individually strengthened and supported so that the entire family can move forward together on their journey of grief to a place of new normal.

Footprints is peer support program for children ages 6-18 and their families. A Footprints workshop consists of one hour, one day a week, for eight weeks. All activities and sessions will be conducted in a group format led by three trained, non-related adult volunteers with 6 to 10 children in each group. We provide a safe caring environment in which everyone involved can learn to identify and cope with their emotions. Most importantly children, teens, and families can learn that “You are not alone.”
