Head Start, Meals on Wheels, and Community Services

What We Do

Head Start and Early Head Start are comprehensive child and family development programs that prepare children from birth to five years of age to become successful school students and members of society.  Head Start was started in the mid-1960’s and has grown into a multi-faceted partnership involving the federal government and local education, social service and health organizations.  Children and families participate in the program on the basis of eligibility criteria.

Meals on Wheels and Noon Congregate Meals provide hot, home-delivered meals, five days a week to those who, due to illness, age, or disability, are unable to provide proper nutrition for themselves. Noon congregate meals provides hot, nutritious meals and companionship to seniors at Senior Centers, Monday through Friday at noon.

Emergency Assistance and Utility Assistance offers various types of aid from utility to rental assistance. The offices are located throughout Williamson and Burnet counties. All clients must meet the poverty income guidelines.
