Who We Are

It is our goal to minimize trauma and reduce re-victimization to child victims of abuse. This goal is accomplished by providing a multidisciplinary response to allegations of child abuse in a professional and child-sensitive manner and by videotaping interviews to reduce the number of times a child victim has to retell his or her abuse to multiple persons.

Services include:

  • Forensic interviews for suspected victims of child abuse
  • Forensic medical evaluations as requested by law enforcement or Child Protective Services
  • Counseling for child victims and their non-offending family members
  • Coordination of the multidisciplinary Child Protective Team
  • Outreach training to first responders.

Children 2 - 17 years old coming to the Center may be victims of physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect or may have been witnessed a serious crime. The WCCAC also offers child centered mental health services for those victims of families who request services. Our licensed therapists provide individual and family therapy to assist in relieving the traumatic effects of the victimization, as well as guide families through the emotional trauma of the investigation and prosecution process.

In order to insulate the child from the trauma of the investigation, a strong collaboration is formed between the WCCAC, law enforcement, Child Protective Services, and prosecutors. The partnership exists to strengthen the integrity of the investigation and put the child on the path to healing.

Our multidisciplinary response includes these vital resources:

  • Law enforcement
  • Child protective services
  • Victim service providers
  • Prosecutors
  • Medical personnel
  • Mental health professionals
  • Victim advocates

This effective method provides an important sense of safety and consistency to the children and families involved.

The Center offers all services free of charge, thanks to grant assistance, individual and business financial donations, community support, and gifts-in-kind.

What We Do

The Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center (WCCAC) is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that provides a child-sensitive, safe environment for children to report abuse. It is both the PLACE where children come to talk and the PROCESS of bringing together the agencies charged with investigating and prosecuting abuse.  We serve children ages 0-17 throughout Williamson County. The WCCAC benefits the community and, more importantly, child victims through the use of Center services.  These services enable significantly fewer interviews for a victim, a greater level of support for families, a stronger investigation, and a substantial increase in successful prosecutions. We offer all our services free of charge to those who need it most, thanks to individual donations and business donations, in-kind gifts, grants, and community support.

Our mission is to provide a child friendly, safe place to disclose child abuse; to reduce the emotional trauma for children and their non-offending family members; and to extend professional services that protect the integrity of an investigation.
