Through the Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECI), Bluebonnet Trails offers services that help infants and toddlers (birth to 36 months of age) with developmental delays and/or a qualifying medical diagnosis achieve their developmental milestones. We coach families and caregivers on successful learning strategies to give them the skills needed to encourage and strengthen everyday routines long after the child graduates from ECI. We work as a team to maximize a child's greatest potential. We also assist parents with access to resources needed to function at their best while focusing on the specific needs of the child.
Children referred to ECI will receive a developmental evaluation to determine eligibility for services according to the requirements of the State of Texas. The evaluation team with the family's input, will determine the most suitable services meeting the child's needs. Some of these services may be:
- Special Skills Training : Developmental Specialists help the family integrate skills assisting the child in achieving developmental milestones.
- Occupational Therapy: A Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) may work with the child on enhancing their physical, sensory , or cognitive development.
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Counseling
- Nutrition
- Auditory and Visual Impairment - Services from a certified teacher specializing in education for children experiencing deafness or blindness
- Service Coordination: A Service Coordinator is assigned to each family to coordinate the services of ECI and/or outside service providers or agencies, to handle associated and necessary paperwork, and to assist the family in accessing any needed supports.
