Who We Are
For almost 15 years, GAPS has led the way to a better life for people in the Georgetown and Williamson County area affected by Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Our mission is to unite individuals, families, care partners and professionals in the fight against Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. We envision a vibrant community that inspires hope, provides support and resources, and empowers those affected by Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
What We Do
GAPS has developed four distinct programs that help us build community for individuals, families, and care partners affected by Parkinson's disease and movement disorders.
Gathering Series
Our monthly Gathering Series event provides a safe space for individuals, families and care partners to learn from experts from the medical and senior care community, receive mental and emotional support, and share their experiences. This program is designed to help reduce isolation and offer valuable insights on managing Parkinson’s disease, fostering a sense of community and understanding, and a sense of hope.
Lunch & Lean Series
GAPS Lunch & Learn’s are facilitated by the greater Parkinson’s Disease community and deliver expert insights on the condition, its symptoms, and management strategies, tailored for patients and care partners. With trusted information from the professional community, lunch and learns help educate and raise awareness, while also highlighting specific resources for ongoing care and support.
GAPS Classes
Classes focus on improving mobility, strength, mental and emotional well-being through specialized exercises and activities. These classes foster community, offering participants the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges while learning techniques to manage symptoms and enhance quality of life. Our classes include: Boxing, Voice Exercise, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Chair Yoga, and more.
Social Series
GAPS Socials provide a relaxing and casual setting for individuals, families and care partners to connect, share experiences and build friendships. These events help to foster a greater sense of community, reduce isolation, and encourage mutual support in a positive, informal atmosphere.
