Round Rock Arts is an Arts non-profit in Round Rock, TX who works to support the areas creative community with events, activities and resources.  We are looking to rebuild our Volunteers Team to help carry out this vision.

A Volunteer Coordinator would be a key position within RRA.  We are looking for someone who can start right away and work both remotely and in-person as needed.  They would be the go-to person, with additional assistance, for keeping steady management of volunteers, both potential and existing. We are looking for someone who lives in or around the Round Rock, TX area.

Hours would be approximately 5-10 per week and working remotely. 

The following is a description of the duties and experience we're looking for:

Volunteers Coordinator: Manages volunteers and schedules them for specific activities; works with key positions in organization to learn what type of volunteer positions need to be filled; creates online outreach ads for needs; tracks potential volunteer responses; replies to and meets with potential volunteers; conducts orientations and connects volunteers with key people within organization; coordinates volunteer appreciation events and thank you cards.

Ability to learn and work with online volunteer membership accounts (ads and outreach), set-up event sign-ups to fill positions, communicate with key positions (Board & chairs, city employees, Admin) to give and gather information for volunteer position needs.

Faith in Action has a medical supply closet that is located at a local church in Georgetown, TX. We are looking for a volunteer to help out on Tuesdays and Thursdays every other week. This job would be by appointment only, so you would be in contact with the person in need of an item or someone who wants to donate something. The volunteer would schedule the time to meet at the church. Training would be provided.

The Love Box program provides fostering families (caregivers, children in foster care, and biological/adopted children) with community and holistic support. This wrap-around support enables caregivers to continue to do the important and meaningful work of being foster parents. As a Love Box group, you will be matched with a local foster family based on location, compatibility, and scope of needs. When our families are matched with committed volunteers who show up monthly, parents feel supported and children gain a greater sense of normalcy, relational permanency, and self confidence.

Volunteers seek to build relationships with their family by spending quality time with the whole family: playing games, sharing a meal, and being intentional. They can also create and deliver personal care packages based on current practical needs. We tell our volunteers to think of themselves as the fun “auntie” and “uncle” who visits once a month to bring love, encouragement, and hope. This program requires a one year commitment, but the connections and impact last a lifetime.

We are looking for Volunteers to bring an important part to the hospice care process.

Our Volunteers are made up of men and women who have a heart for providing the human connection.

Some examples of volunteer duties are:

• Providing companionship to a patient and their family

• Being a comforting and supportive presence

• Providing respite time for the patient’s caregivers

• Running errands or doing light housekeeping for the patient and family

​​The heart of the Dare to Dream program is to walk alongside youth as they navigate through life's challenges. The youth in our Dare to Dream program need the wisdom, advice, encouragement, and community that mentors can provide. Mentors meet practical and emotional needs as well as provide guidance through developmental milestones. The goal is for youth to be engaged and to feel supported and equipped to navigate life. A mentor commits to meeting with the youth every other week to set goals and help them achieve their dreams. These relationships will hopefully last a lifetime, but the program is a year commitment. Mentors matched with a high school student are strongly encouraged to stay with the youth until high school graduation.

We tell mentors that the simple act of telling their youth “I believe in you,” “You are special,” and “You are going to do great things” can change their path completely.

We need back-up, fill-in helpers to work occasional Monday or Friday morning shift to answer phone and do simple data entry for neighbors coming to the food pantry for groceries. Volunteers do not need to be Catholic to help with this ministry, but we are a Christian spirituality group and we endeavor to be the face of Christ for those we serve.

Alzheimer's Association Community Educators (AACEs) are volunteer public speakers who help raise awareness, provide education and expand the reach of Alzheimer's Association programs in the community.  AACEs deliver Alzheimer’s Association Core Curriculum using prepared training materials on topics related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias as well as information for individuals and families impacted by the disease.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the WCCAC! We are in need of dedicated and caring volunteers to assist our children and families here in Williamson County. As a WCCAC volunteer, you might:

A family in Georgetown needs help cleaning up their home. Previous family members left a lot of junk behind and their children cannot be returned home until they make their home safer.

Resolutions Hospice is looking for caring people who can visit with sweet and kind hospice patients in Kyle, Bertram, Lampasas, South Austin, Round Rock and Taylor.  Our patients love visitors and due to their terminal illness, many become lonely and isolated.  No experience is necessary - we provide a short training session and any supplies you may use while visiting with patients. 

All you need is 30 minutes to an hour once a week or every other week to truly change someone's life.  Volunteering with hospice is flexible and easy!  We can work with almost ANY schedule!

Hospice is a philosophy of Heath Care for those who are actively dying; but Hospice is not “giving up” on someone.  It’s about elevating their quality of life.

The Austin Steam Train Association is looking for volunteers to meet and greet passengers on our train excursions Saturdays and Sundays into the Hill Country.

We welcome volunteers from every background to spend one Saturday or Sunday a month (or more) visiting with our out of town guests on the train.

Training is easy, the work is vital, and the experience is energizing!

As a volunteer in On Board Services, you'll help passengers find their seats, serve refreshments, and interact with our guests. For the leisurely ride you'll have many opportunities to point out historic landmarks along the line and talk about the history of central Texas railroads. Because our little railroad is world famous, our volunteers are constantly meeting interesting travelers from around the globe!

Volunteers are asked to serve one or more shifts per month on a Saturday or Sunday.  Shifts are 5 - 8 hours in length.

A volunteer can read, cook, play games, do patients nails or hair, especially if they are a trained beautician. They can bring therapy dogs, as well as watch a movie, have a meal, or go for a walk. Whatever will give the patient enjoyment and purpose.

We are looking for a small commitment of 2-3 hours per week. As a Hospice provider, we would be honored for any volunteer to join our compassionate team. We look forward to meeting you.

LifeSteps provides court-mandated classes for DWI and DUI offenders.  Most of these offenders have had their license suspended and must pay fines and fees/surcharges through the State's Driver's Responsibility Program. Many of these clients could qualify as indigent and have their surcharges waived. Others could apply for an Occupational Driver's License.  The application process for a waiver or a ODL is complicated. Some technical assistance would be beneficial.  The volunteers assisting would meet with the client (here at LifeSteps).  The meeting would be to: 

LifeSteps' Round Rock office would appreciate help with janitorial tasks.  Involves wiping down classroom tables, vacuuming classroom and office spaces, dusting, cleaning windows and doors, bathroom cleaning, taking out trash.  

Resolutions Hospice is actively seeking a veteran from any branch of the military to visit with our terminally ill patients who are also veterans in Georgetown, Round Rock and North Austin.  Volunteers with provide some much needed companionship and emotional support.

Resolutions Hospice is looking for someone in Round Rock who can bring church to our patients at a small facility. NO experience is necessary.  You do not have to be a minister or have seminary experience.  Just a kind heart and willingness to serve.  The patients really enjoy listening to hymns (CD's are great but bonus if you can play an instrument or sing!) and hearing passages from the bible with a short message or discussion.

The day of the week is flexible.  The best times are either at 10am or right after lunch.  It can be held weekly or every other week.  They are VERY flexible.

Special event volunteer’s responsibility is to assist in preparing, setting-up, dismantling, and guiding activities during different events and educational programs offered by the museum.  Opportunities may include welcoming visitors during city events in Georgetown’s historic downtown, helping direct guests during events, and assisting with crafts during annual events such as Pioneer Day, Chisholm Trail Day, and Lighting of the Square.  Opportunities are located in both Georgetown and Round Rock; days and times vary.

Join our Museum Docent volunteers in Georgetown! These volunteers are a crucial part of The Williamson Museum's mission. As a docent/greeter, you will be the first person to welcome visitors when they enter the museum; be a hub of knowledge to guide them through exhibits; assist with maintaining the museum exhibit areas; and help the museum maintain visitor statistics. We seek energetic and passionate storytellers of all ages to fill this role.

Typical greeter hours are Wednesday-Friday from 12:00-5:00, and Saturday from 10:00-5:00 in 2.5 hour shifts.

Many greeters also help with special events such as First Friday on Georgetown's historic square, when the museum is open until 9:00pm.

Courthouse tour guides give guided tours of the historic County Courthouse every Friday and Saturday at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30, and we are looking for more tour guides to join our team! Our greatest need is currently Friday tour guides.

Constructed in 1910, the historic courthouse marks the middle of Georgetown's historic town square. Landmark trials such as Dan Moody's famous 1923 prosecution of a Ku Klux Klan member have occured there, and it's architecture reflects the Beaux-Arts style of the early 20th century.

As a Costumed Interpreter, the volunteer will portray real people who lived in and near the Museum’s historic buildings at 8 Chisholm Trail as part of the Museum’s Living History programming.

Costumed volunteers may assist in a wide variety of activities such as gardening and grounds keeping, cooking, and daily household tasks (candle making, housekeeping, sewing, etc.) in order to engage visitors. Other opportunities could include giving educational programs in period costume (see Education Presenters).

Volunteers should be comfortable with public speaking or acting, passionate about education, and have an interest in history. Living History volunteers are provided period clothing and training, with the option of shadowing other volunteers. Volunteers will be trained in first person interpretation.

Do you enjoy working with kids? Learning and sharing local history? Join our education team and present history to schools, home school groups, and other organizations. In 2018, our educational programs reached 14,000 local students!

Volunteer presenters lead a guided conversation using the artifacts provided to make history come alive. Each presentation is 30 minutes long and can take place at the school or at the museum during a field trip.

Scheduling is Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9am and 3pm as needed. Volunteers should be comfortable with public speaking and working with children, passionate about education, and have an interest in history. Being able to lift up to 50lbs is helpful, but not expected. Ideal for retired teachers.

Education Volunteers will receive training materials and have the option of shadowing other volunteers before conducting an education program.

Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do, and one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s a lot of fun.

We have various print materials that are sent to businesses throughout our daily travels.  If you would like to pick up some of our materials and in the line of your daily travels leave our literature in these business facilities that would help us out a great deal.

Kids In A New Groove (KING) provides private, in-home, music instruction to Central Texas youth in foster care, allowing them to gain the benefits of one-on-one mentorship, as well as the skills and creativity that come with music. KING’s program combines the power of mentoring with music instruction.

What's involved: Our dogs are walked three times a day starting at 7am, 11am and 5pm. We have a secluded trail through a wooded area that leads to a dead-end gravel road. You will get to spend one-on-one time with each dog that will help them learn proper leash manners, give them some socialization opportunities to meet new people, and can maybe even teach them a few tricks to help them get adopted quicker!

We need people to attend off-site adoption events around the Lago Vista/Cedar Park/North Austin area. Duties would include transporting animals, crates, tables, etc; holding dogs; talking to the public. Weekly, bi-monthly, and monthly schedules offer 6-8 hours of rewarding experiences. Preferences for cat or dog adoptions are accommodated. 

Round Rock ISD is looking for mentors at all campuses.  Pick a campus that is close to your work or home and make a difference in a child's life.  To become a mentor volunteers must complete an online volunteer application and attend a one hour training class.  Mentors meet 30 minutes a week during a student's lunch time and follow the school calendar. 

Career mentoring is now an option for professionals that would like to help a student explore all aspects of their chosen profession.  Many students already know the career path they would like to take so we are matching professionals with those students to help explore that job and the path they need to take to get into that career.

The Georgetown Palace Theatre's Education Department is looking for volunteers to greet visitors and answer phones from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on Mondays - Fridays. We are looking for warm and friendly folks who are passionate about the theatre and the development of our community's youth. All volunteers will be briefed on answers to frequently asked questions and will be trained on our online registration system in order to best serve our customers. Other office tasks may be assigned (such as organizing scripts and music for the kids) by the Director of Education. 

Volunteers will be issued two complementary tickets to a Palace production and/or registration to a Palace Academy class for a student for every month worked in the Education Office. 

Creative individuals needed in the Hutto area to help us develop our 3 year program roll-out plan for the Keep Hutto Beautiful Foundation. The Program Committee oversees new program development, as well as monitors and assess existing programs. They initiate and guide program evaluations based on how well the program fits within the Mission and Strategic Plan of the organization. 

We are in need of ongoing support for our diaper bank. Our Early Childhood Intervention program supports families with a medically fragile or developmentally delayed baby. Often our families may struggle with financial need due to their little one's many needs. We established the diaper bank as a way to help these families during times of crisis. You can help by donating diapers and wipes to the bank. 

We need volunteers to help provide baby blankets to our babies enrolled in ECI.  Each year at our Cookies with Santa celebration we provide each little one with a blanket.  These can be quilts, crochet, knitted, or purchased. Resolutions Hospice is looking for caring people who can visit with sweet and kind hospice patients in Kyle,  Georgetown and Hutto.  Our patients love visitors and due to their terminal illness, many become lonely and isolated.  No experience is necessary - we provide a short training session and any supplies you may use while visiting with patients. 

All you need is 30 minutes to an hour once a week or every other week to truly change someone's life.  Volunteering with hospice is flexible and easy!  We can work with almost ANY schedule!

Some of the items in need are simple wooden puzzles - with sound is great, washable fingerpaints, musical instruments ( bells, drums, cymbals ) stacking toys, sorting toys, blocks, sponges, Fisher Price cash register, simple books ( Brown Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, My First Words, Good Night Moon, etc.,)  colorful tissue paper, large parmesan cheese bottles, baby wipe containers, large colorful pompoms ( 1-2 inch) glue sticks, bottled glue, orange juice lids, plastic Halloween pumpkin,  plastic tweezers, washable markers, pop up toys, play doh, non-spill bubbles.  Please keep in mind these are for 2 year olds.

As a Hospice Patient/Family Support Volunteer you will serve as a friend/companion to a patient and provide support to the patient and family. Volunteers needed to adopt a local police department on behalf of MADD. Groups can provide a meal, snacks, monthly birthday party, etc. to law enforcement departments within MADD's service area as a way to recognize officers' efforts and promote the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving and Victim Services. Recognition is especially needed in outlying counties. MADD will provide staff business cards, victim services brochures, and other MADD services materials. This can be done for police, sheriff, highway patrol, TABC, etc. Special interest for this in Travis county, but all Central Texas areas are welcome!

MADD's Speakers Bureau is a voluntary opportunity to work at the grass-roots level to speak to community groups, law enforcement agencies, interested parties, etc. about the dangers of impaired and drunk driving. This program is grant-funded by the Texas Department of Transportation and is a combined effort to reduce impaired driving crashes, injuries and fatalities in Travis County by pro-actively engaging people in segments of the community and educating and informing all to the dangers of impaired and drunk driving by supporting law enforcement in these efforts.

-Attending or conducting Roll Call Briefings for Law Enforcement

-Supporting Law Enforcement in their efforts to end drunk driving

-Assisting with the Travis County Law Enforcement Recognition Awards luncheon

-Engaging and encouraging ALL segments of the community to join in these efforts

Two books were written and one published with different patients from a previously inexperienced volunteer. This volunteer has become so experienced and valued with our team and the families of the patients that he was a key speaker at the memorial of his patient.

Many volunteers become deeply connected with families and stay in contact, exchange Holiday cards and help the family with difficult transitions.

Audiobooks have been delivered and improved the quality of life of a patient to the point where all staff noticed how much happier the patient had become. The individual attention that the volunteer provided made the patient open up that they missed reading so they filled the need with audiobooks.

Do you love talking to people on the telephone? Would you like to be a friendly voice to a terminally ill patient and family? Then you would enjoy volunteering as a Compassionate Caller. Compassionate Calls are made weekly, every Thursday morning, to Compassus patients that are living in their home. It is a joy for a hospice patient or family member to receive a phone call from a volunteer to check in with them and see how they are doing, or to talk to their Caregiver and give a word of encouragement. Compassionate Calls also help our medical staff by asking patients/caregivers if they are in need of any supplies for the upcoming weekend. Compassionate Calls are made from our office in Round Rock. CASA of Williamson County Speaks Up for Children who have been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them through the judicial system on their way to a safe permanent home. When the state of Texas steps in to protect the safety of a child, a judge appoints a trained CASA volunteer to make independent and informed recommendation in the best interest of the child.

 Did you know that there are over 400 children from Williamson County in the custody of the state of Texas? Our goal is to provide a CASA for every child who needs one.  We are currently serving approximately 178 children with over 80 CASA volunteers.  We can serve many more with your help. 

The Serving Center has a lot to get done on Saturday afternoons once our client services are closed for the day. This is our opportunity to get the pantry shelves stocked, donations sorted and priced and the area organized!

CareDRIVERS are a HUGE part of ColorCancer. They are the faces our CaredFOR (cancer patients) are most excited to see. Our volunteer drivers take boxes and boxes of at-home care supplies to our CaredFOR, making their day.

clubGEN is an after school program for girls in grades 3-8. At clubGEN, girls are surrounded with positive role models they can relate to for connection, inspiration, and guidance. Weekly interactive, fun sessions incorporate a research-based curriculum designed exclusively for clubGEN. With support from their club leaders, peers and volunteers, clubGEN equips girls with the skills and awareness they need to navigate the pressures of the teen years.

Topics covered: body Image, media literacy, positive self talk, puberty, bullying, career exploration, confidence, financial literacy, goal setting, healthy eating and physical fitness, healthy relationships, substance abuse, stress management and team building.
