What We Do

The WilCo Wellness Alliance is a community coalition focusing on the health and wellness of Williamson County.  Formed in 2009 as a result of being designated an ACHIEVE Community, the Alliance started out in Georgetown and spread to countywide over the next three years.  We have a diverse membership including community organizations, government agencies, businesses, healthcare, schools, behavioral health, faith-based, and community members.  In order to serve the communities throughout Williamson County there are several layers to the Alliance:

Community Health Improvement Steering Committee (CHIC) is comprised of executive level professionals from our participating organizations.  The CHIC provides leadership by reviewing community health assessments and recommending countywide strategic direction and priorities for improving the health of Williamson County.

Community Groups are comprised of individuals from healthcare, school, government, business, community organizations, faith-based organizations, and the broad community.  The Community Groups focus on community-wide policy, systems, and environmental initiatives that impact health at multiple levels in an effort to create healthier communities.  Community Groups are separated into four quadrants: North, East, South and West.

Working Groups are comprised of community members and subject matter experts.  The Working Groups develop, implement, and evaluate interventions that may be countywide, community-specific, or both.  Working Groups are based on current community-wide health priorities, including: active living, employee wellness, food safety, healthy eating, maternal and child health, mental health, mosquito management, public health and medical preparedness, school health, substance abuse, and access to care.

The WilCo Wellness Alliance is guided and supported in its collaborative process by academia and public health. Students, staff, and professors from schools, colleges, and universities provide academic support through internships, research, and expertise. The Williamson County and Cities Health District offers support through its Board of Health, research, and staff.
