Camp Bluebonnet

Who We Are

At Camp Bluebonnet, we’re more than just a camp—we’re a community. Children, families, medical professionals, and volunteers unite in a welcoming environment focused on learning, teamwork, and inclusivity. Our programs provide essential diabetes education while fostering connections that bring a sense of belonging and normalcy, extending well beyond camp.

For families facing a new diabetes diagnosis, Camp Bluebonnet often becomes a beacon of hope, introduced by local doctors and nurses as a positive, supportive network. Here, campers build lifelong friendships, and parents and caregivers find a community that shares their experiences and offers guidance on managing diabetes.

We are more than just a camp; we’re a lifeline of hope and ongoing support for families living with diabetes.

What We Do

We provide a safe, supportive environment where campers build confidence, independence, and lifelong friendships while learning essential diabetes self-management skills. Through hands-on medical education, peer connection, and guidance from trained volunteers and medical professionals, campers practice skills such as blood glucose monitoring, insulin dosing, CGM use, problem-solving, and communicating about their health needs.

Beyond medical skills, Camp Bluebonnet helps children feel less alone in their diagnosis by connecting them with peers who truly understand their daily experiences. Our program fosters resilience, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging for both campers and families. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a positive, encouraging environment where children can grow in confidence while having fun.

Camp Bluebonnet is part of the Children’s Diabetes Camp of Central Texas and is committed to ensuring cost is not a barrier to participation, offering scholarships so that families of all financial backgrounds can benefit from camp.
