What We Do

Our Mission

To seek and provide the resources and programs necessary for individuals to achieve literacy

Our Vision

People Discovering Better Lives through Literacy

The Literacy Council of Williamson County (LCWC) is a nonprofit

organization serving adults in Williamson County and parts of

Northern Travis County. We are dedicated to improving the literacy

skills of adults and to helping high school dropouts earn a GED.

LCWC was incorporated and began operations in 1985 at the Round

Rock Public Library where volunteers became aware of the need to

provide English literacy instruction to adults.  A handful of volunteer

tutors served 19 adults the first year. Today, the Literacy Council

serves more than 1,000 adults with the assistance of 100 to 120

volunteers.
