Who We Are

The Taylor Housing Authority (THA) has been in existence for over 62 years. This does not mean we are ready for retirement, but that we are in the process of regaining our youth!

What We Do

Programs & Services

Rental Programs Administered

Taylor Housing Authority administers two programs. The Public Housing Program and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Taylor Housing Authority owns two properties named Mary Olson and Avery, which are public housing. Mary Olson is located off of East 7th Street and has 46 units. The Avery apartments are located off of East Rio Grande Street and has 70 units. Applications for public housing can be completed on line from our website (  After submission of the application, all required forms and documents should be brought into our office  located at 311-C East 7th St. Taylor, Texas 76574, Monday to Thursday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.  The application process is not complete until all forms and documents have been received.

THA also administers a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program that assists approximately 142 families. The Voucher program is a rental subsidy program where families choose where they want to live (based on certain stipulations) and the rental subsidy is paid to the landlord. If anyone is interested in leasing their units to a Section 8 participant, they should contact our office at (512) 352-3231, x112. Applications for the voucher program are only accepted periodically as vouchers become available.

Those interested in portability and relocating to Taylor, TX should contact Angie Lindgren at (512) 352-3231, ext. 112.

Volunteer Opportunities

The THA is always seeking volunteers to assist with a variety of things such as visiting the elderly, assisting with special events, participating in resource fairs and assisting with our garden, as well as other opportunities. Please contact our office for more information.

Resident Services

The THA would like to expand its resident services program. The housing authority currently provides access to WI-FI and a computer for residents at the Mary Olson office. Some of the residents use the computer to look up important information such as insurance and social security information.

THA also has an onsite library where residents can borrow books on an honor system. Residents have been taking advantage of this on a regular basis. We hope to continue expanding the library through donations of books from the community.

Each year the housing authority participates in the National Night Out festivities at the Mary Olson apartments. Last year we had about 80 residents participate in the activities. Some of the activities included visits from the police and fire departments, which the residents enjoyed.
